Seahawks take Colorado safety Tedric Thompson

RENTON -- With their first draft pick of the final day of the NFL Draft, the Seahawks selected Colorado safety Tedric Thompson.

Thompson is the third defensive back selected by Seattle so far in the draft along with Central Florida cornerback Shaquill Griffin (third round, No. 90 overall) and Michigan safety Delano Hill (third round, No. 95 overall).

"It feels good," Thompson said. "It just feels like a blessing to see my little brother (Cedric) get drafted a couple years ago and see two of my best friends get drafted earlier yesterday, so it's just a blessing to be able to play football."

Thompson is a 6-foot, 209-pound safety that was one of the key cogs in Colorado's stellar secondary. He was a second-team All-Pac 12 selection last season with 63 tackles, 3.5 for loss and seven interceptions. Thompson and fellow teammate Ahkello Witherspoon also tied for the FBS lead with 23 passes defended last season as well.

Thompson said he had an interview with Seattle at the NFL Combine in February.
