Hellllllllllllooooo Mr. Clayton!
John Clayton, or The Professor, if you so prefer.
John started his storied journalistic career hosting a cable TV sports show in Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania, though still a student at Churchill Area High School in Pittsburgh. He began his print journalism career at Steel City Sports, a weekly publication, in 1973. Before graduating from Duquesne University in 1976, John was hired fulltime by the Pittsburgh Press in 1976 during his senior year. He also served as a stringer for the AP Radio Network among others in the 1970s.
In 1978, John began covering the Steelers for the Pittsburgh Press, but would eventually find his way west in 1986 covering our beloved Seahawks for the Tacoma News Tribune. In 1995, JC joined ESPN as a reporter while still covering the ‘Hawks until 1998.
As if that weren’t enough, he hosts an ESPN Radio show with former NFL quarterback Sean Salisbury in addition to Sports Saturday. In fact, his Saturdays are typically consumed by a seven-straight-hour block of sports talk radio! Turn on a television, and you’ll probably see JC on any given ESPN network at any given moment. |
